What Is God’s Grace? Salvationįor it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.-Ephesians 2:8–9įaith in God is the key to our salvation and redemption. Grace is giving you what you don’t deserve. Getting what you deserve is what “karma,” which is the antithesis of grace, is all about. When we experience the mercy of God, we are spared the punishment and consequences that we do deserve. When we experience or receive God’s grace, we are given a favor that we are not deserving of. We often get confused between “mercy” and “grace.” Although both terms express God’s abounding love and favor toward us, they have clearly different meanings.Īccording to Webster’s New World College Dictionary, “grace” is the undeserved favor and love of God toward people.
